European Fashion Award FASH 2012 Active – Performance Sportswear

Victory and loss, pain or relief. Sports are pure emotion and have seeped into almost all areas of life, even fashion. However, performance sportswear does not play a very significant role in fashion design schools, though it offers appealing design challenges with a high potential for innovation. Under the title “Active – Performance Sportswear” the European Fashion Award FASH 2012 together with the Special Award Gore Bike Wear is searching for sportswear for competitive, endurance or fitness sports, with a ground-breaking combination of function and fashion.

I found these great silk habotai prints, also known as "china silk".  Silk habotai is a soft, lightweight, lustrous silk made with a tight, plain weave and very fine yarns. I find these prints inspirational for Fall 2012 textile prints, as florals, feathers/peacocks and animal print trends continues......

CIFF, Copenhagen International Fashion Fair has become Europe's fashion fair no. 1. The fair takes place in Bella Center, which is located in Copenhagen. Next show is scheduled August 4-7, 2011. To register online go here.....

When the focus turns away from the trends of the past, it concentrates on the universe of the male and draws from it a heterogeneous inspiration, ranging from the review of 'boyish allure', to the country charms of western films, to then transcend the technological vision of a cyber-woman who has all the appearance of a futuristic fighter.

Meet artist Jennifer Rzasa, I love the style of her fashion illustrations. Her runway sketches and how she outfits them are as if they're almost ready to walk off the screen of my computer and her shoes,.....her SHOE illustrations are too die for.   You can check out more of her illustrations and purchase them from her Etsy store, Our Change Of Art . Be sure to read her "artist statement" below, she is so super multi-talented in fact she surprised me that she doesn't work in the fashion industry. And if she did, she would succeed and stand out.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I am a 27 yr old music teacher (1st-5th grade). I live with my husband in MA, just outside of Boston. I love performing, skateboarding, playing video games, and painting. I have pretty busy days- after work I often teach private violin/viola/piano lessons, but when I come home I make sure to save time to create. I became interested in fashion when I was younger- I always loved to watch runway shows when they were aired on tv. In addition to fashion illustrations, I also make greeting cards, which you can find on my blog: ourchangeofart.blogspot.com. This summer I'm taking graduate classes towards getting my masters in music education.

>>DESIGN CONTEST - BETAFASHION COLLABORATES WITH ASOS

BetaFashion announces a second collaboration with ASOS after their first great success of the Freedom Project. The focus is on creating an Autumn/Winter collection that will once again be sold exclusively through the ASOS website. The theme for this project is "WALLPAPER", a capsule collection they developed that's clean, modern and understated pieces, ideal to be adorned with beautiful print designs.

The top 16 submissions will be shortlisted and moved on to a one week public evaluation period. Once this period has ended ASOS will select two ultimate winners. The winning designers will receive £1200 each and see their designs made into collections and sold on Asos.com under their name.

Stephen Jones, one of the world’s finest milliners, is inviting designers to submit a photograph or illustration of their originally designed hat for the chance to be a part of Hats: An Anthology, an exhibition hosted by the Bard Graduate Center in New York City. The exhibit is a collaboration between Stephen Jones and the V&A and has previously attracted over 350,000 visitors in London and Brisbane. The selected hat will be displayed in the Bard Graduate Center Gallery as part of the exhibition. Stephen Jones is looking for originality and creativity and encourages participants to use any kind of material - from paper to metal, fabric to feathers, card to plastic*.
